Envelope

A standard household envelope is a basic paper envelope, typically #10 size (4-1/8" x 9-1/2"), used for mailing letters or documents.

Fun Fact

The first patented envelope with gummed flaps was invented in 1839 by Jesse Wheeler, but mass production began in 1844 when Edwin Hill built the first envelope-making machine, producing 300 per hour.
